I have heard Malian singer Rokia Traore before while listening to Malian musicians on last.fm but this performance is mesmerizing indeed! This is what Berthold Auerbach meant when he said: "Music washes away from the soul the dust of everyday life."
Rokia Traore sings the moving "M'Bifo," accompanied on the n'goni, a lute-like Malian stringed instrument.
And now for something completely different. I usually hate music on a synth but this one has a good foot-thumping beat.
And one for the road... you ain't nothing but a hound dog. Not the Elvis version (which ain't that bad) but its Big Mama Thornton belting it away.
